The documentary that I wish to produce will involve following people affected by CMT, support they receive, discussions with expert doctors and scientists about the disease and the progress to improve lifestyle and possible cures for the future. This is simply a documentary about the illness and the prejudice from others who believe that the illness doesn't exist and that it's all in the mind.

There is another documentary called "Bernadette" which was made in America. I am aware of the documentary, in fact, its one of my inspirations for my own. With my documentary I want to focus on what CMTers have to deal with here in the UK, what support is out there, whether it be ATOS healthcare saying they're able to work to those who suffer in silence since the disease can be 'invisible'. I will be focusing on many people in the UK who are affected by CMT as well as working closely with the Charities and specialists in the UK. I've got full respect for the Bernadette documentary and I don't wish to undermine it, I just want to aid in the awareness of CMT and push out that ignorance that people have against the disease.

I also have strong connections with the UK charities and they're willing to help me out in anyway possible. I've worked closely with Karen Butcher, Secretary to CMT-UK and Karin Rodgers who runs the CMT Kids weekends. Their support has been phenomenal.

The film will be entered into as many film festivals as I would be allowed to enter and depending on how much you pledge, we could grant you free access to the festivals paid for by us.

The money you donate will go towards travel, the cost of hire/purchase of the camera & sound equipment required to make this a professional/broadcast standard piece of work. A breakdown on what we spend the money on will be posted across social media so you know we are spending your pledge to the best of our ability.

Thank you for viewing this page and I do hope you will support my documentary.

Risks and challenges

There are several challenges to overcome when producing a documentary.

Footage: The biggest issue will be if we were to lose the footage and/or final edit of the project. I will be overcoming this issue by making sure that all footage used will be backed up to a cloud account as soon as I get to a wifi network to make sure that the footage isn't lost.

Faulty Equipment: All equipment will be checked for any potential flaws or damage prior to going to production. If any equipment is damaged, interviews will be either re-arranged when equipment is fixed or alternate methods will be used.

Transport: If for any reason my car breaks down, interviews would have to be rearranged if I couldn't arrange alternate transport. This could put the final edit back a few weeks.

Interviews: Due to the medical conditions of those who will take part in the documentary, there could be a potential problem with arranging interviews if they will fall ill prior to interviews. The interviews will be re-arranged for a more convenient time for the interviewee.

Contracts: All interviewees will have to sign a legal disclaimer which allows us to use the footage of their interview and/or any footage with their face present in the final edit to the documentary. This will be written up and proof read and carried with the production equipment making sure it is not forgotten. A separate disclaimer would have to be filled in by a parent/guardian for anyone under the age of 18.

CB Check: With the potential that interviewees could be under the age of 18, we will file a CB Check will all the production team prior to production. If the check appears to have an issue, that member of the team will not be present during production.

Festivals: If for any reason the documentary does not make it to a film festival this year, it will be entered in to 2014's film festivals. To fulfil the project, I will arrange a copy to be sent to those who took part.

Break of contract: If for any reason people taking part in the documentary no longer wish to uphold their contract and wish to be removed for whatever reason, we would have to hold back the documentary until the issue is resolved or a re-edit is made.

Facts & Information: We will endeavour to make sure that all information in the documentary is fact at the time of filming and that all records and references will be filed in physical and digital format and can be requested if information is deemed to be false.
